Those who claim specific benefits and spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone else are eligible for Carer’s Allowance. If the total income you make exceeds the £12,570 Personal Allowance, you will be required to pay tax on your Carer’s Allowance.
Only one of you may submit a DWP Carers Allowance Increase 2024 claim if you and the other carer are caring for the same individual. Because it is not means-tested, your amount of Carer’s Allowance is not determined by your income, savings, or National Insurance payments.
However, there is a weekly maximum on the amount you may make from employment and still be eligible, so if your weekly income after taxes and national insurance is more than £151, you are not eligible to receive Carer’s Allowance.
