SASSA Old Age Grant Increase 2024

SASSA provides several grants to increase the purchasing power of people with the increasing inflation. The agency offers financial assistance based on the following grants:

How much will you get in the SASSA Old Age Grant 2024?
According to the announcement, the beneficiaries of the SASSA Old Age Grant will receive the payment in two portions according to the age of the beneficiary. As mentioned earlier, the government has announced an R100 increase in the SASSA old age grant.
Here’s the distribution of the R100 increment in the SASSA old age grant:
- As of 1 April 2024, the old age grant under SASSA will be increased by R90, meaning the beneficiaries of the age group between 60 and 74 years old will receive a new grant amount of R2180, and beneficiaries over 75 years old will receive R2200.
- From October 2024, the beneficiaries of the SASSA old age grant would receive a grant increased by R10. The new grant for the beneficiaries of the age group between 60 and 74 years old is R2190 per month and for beneficiaries over 75 years old, the grant would increase to R2220 per month.
SASSA Old Age Grant Dates 2024
The beneficiaries can mark the SASSA Old Age grant Payments dates to plan their expenses accordingly. According to the SASSA, the SASSA social grants are issued first to older people to provide them with timely financial assistance.
Generally, the SASSA payments are issued on the third of every month, but due to holidays and weekends, the payment day can shift to a day before or one day after the designated date.

- Log in to the website with the required credentials, if you already have a SASSA account.
- If not, you can register on the site through your ID number and personal information.
- Next, navigate to the “Payment Status” of the dashboard of your account.
- The payment status of your SASSA social grant will appear on your screen.
