The applicant must be over 18 years old.
The scheme is centered on the Vishwakarma community, so the applicant should belong to the Vishwakarma community.
The applicant should not have availed of any loans under a similar scheme from the central or state governments in the past 5 years. For instance, PMEGP, Mudra, PM SV ANidhi, etc.
The applicant must be an artisan or craftsperson working with hands and tools or have engaged in traditional or indigenous crafts or artisanal work.
Only one family member can avail of the benefits under the scheme. A family is described as a group consisting of a husband, wife, and unmarried children.
Government servicemen and their families are ineligible for the scheme.

Under the scheme, there are almost 18 occupations that are enlisted, and anybody with these occupations can apply for the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. The enlisted occupations are:

Wood-based – Carpenter, boat maker;
Construction/Architecture: Mason
Clay-based: Potter
Iron/Metal-based/Stone-based: Blacksmith, Sculptor, armorer, Stone Breaker, etc.

Others: Tailor, Basketmaker, Painter, Sculptor, Blacksmith, Confectioner, Barber, etc.

PM Vishwakarma Yojana Benefits

There are several benefits that a beneficiary would get under the scheme. Knowing the benefits is essential to get the best out of the scheme.

Recognition to a traditional craftsman: All the beneficiaries will get recognition under the scheme through the PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID card that will be issued by the government to the beneficiaries.
Upskilling: Under the scheme, the government will test your skill through a skill verification process followed by 5-7 days. The government will provide basic training and the interested candidates can enroll for 15 days. The training program has a stipend involved of Rs 500 for a day. This gives you a chance to upskill yourself and earn while getting the training.
Toolkit incentive: After the training, the beneficiaries will have a rs 15,000 incentive to buy the toolkit required to start their work.
Financial Empowerment: The scheme provides credits of Rs 3 lakhs in two phases to the beneficiaries. The first phase loan can be returned in 18 months, and the second phase loan should be returned in 2 years and 6 months. The rate of interest charged to beneficiaries is 5%; the 8% will be covered by MoMSME, and the guarantee fees will be borne by the GOI. This financial support will help you open up your own business or upgrade to any technological moderation.
Marketing Support: The National Committee for Marketing (NCM) will provide marketing support to the beneficiaries to make sure the business flourishes well. This way, the beneficiaries can save on their marketing costs and maintain the authenticity of their business.
Digital transaction incentive: Under the scheme, the beneficiary will get incentives for digital transactions. Through this, beneficiaries would get a monthly benefit on up to 100 transactions of Rs 1 per transaction.
Networking: Through the platform, the beneficiaries can connect with other artisans, potential experts, and buyers who can help them build their business and, ultimately, the growth of the business.
